MINISTRIES
Where do I go to serve?
There are numerous ways that you can get involved at New Community—on a regular basis and periodically. All of our Ministry Teams are looking for dedicated and reliable volunteers. If you are passionate about serving, please contact our church office or visit our website for email information for each team leader. So much happens during the week, and we wouldn’t want you to miss anything! Again, if you are ready to get involved and use those gifts God instilled in you, or if you’d like to serve in ways outside of those listed, contact us at the office.
If you aren’t sure what you spiritual gifts are, there are classes throughout the year which are designed to help you figure them out. But you can still get involved! After all, nothing shows us what gifts we have like experience. Learn your gifts while you serve.
Ministry Teams
BUILD
Michael Washington | Michael's Email
BUILDing men serves by gathering, challenging, equipping, and supporting men at New Community to be better followers of Jesus. Through regular, loosely structured gatherings this team allows for fun and relationship-building, while highlighting critical components to Christian male identity.
Children’s Ministry
Michael Washington | Michael's Email
We want to share the love of Christ to every child by teaching about Jesus and by being an example of Christ to them, so they may also become kingdom builders. Each Sunday, we minister to children from infancy to 5th grade through an inviting environment of praise, Bible lessons, and fellowship. Our ministry also provides parents a much needed break and an opportunity to refuel by participating in worship.
Community Groups
Angela Zirk | Angela's Email
Community Groups are small gatherings of people (usually between 10 and 12) working together one night per week to progress from where they are to where God wants them to be—through Bible Study, fellowship, service and accountability. NC3 Community Groups meet on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.
Global Missions
Daniel Kaiser | Daniel's Email
The Global Missions Committee develops annual budgets for missionaries that our church supports financially and keeps our church connected to changing lives inside and outside our local area.
Homeless Ministry
Bryan Nguyen | Bryan's Email
This team works and serves to meet the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of homeless individuals within our community. Our monthly outings involve visiting various places in the Logan Square area to share seasonally appropriate items with homeless persons. In this way, long-term relationships are developed and people are impacted for Christ.
Hospitality
Gerald and Vivian Liu | Gerald and Vivian's Email
The Hospitality team is dedicated to providing a warm and welcoming environment for everyone who comes through the doors on Sunday mornings. We also strive to reflect the mission and vision of New Community as we provide visitors with information and venues for connecting into the church. The team is always looking for enthusiastic volunteers!
Micah Legal Aid (MLA)
Grace Lim | Grace's Email
This team partners with Legal Assistance Foundation to (1) provide complimentary legal expertise and counsel and (2) to refer clients to other, more appropriate agencies. Services are provided for low income members of Logan Square and its surrounding communities. The team does not handle criminal matters.
Prayer Team
Bethany Purvis | Bethany's Email
Prayer remains a vital part of our church. This team prays during each worship service and intercedes with anyone desiring prayer in our prayer.

Warming Center
Libby Anthrayose | Libby's Email
The Warming Center is a safe place where homeless and marginalized individuals in Logan Square experience Christ’s love for them, and can take first steps towards the life God desires for them. Volunteers serve at the Warming Center by forming relationships with our guests and helping to meet basic physical needs through serving meals, providing clothes and toiletries, etc. Please visit our page for current information.
