The Heart of Our Ministry to Children

Kid City is the children’s ministry of New Community Covenant Church—where children (infants-5th grade) are invited to connect with CHRIST, participate in authentic COMMUNITY, and radically advance the CAUSE of Jesus by learning what it means to live in relationship with God and others.

Our vision is to see each child know, love, and follow Jesus Christ—embracing Him as Lord in all of life. By creating a safe, welcoming, and loving environment for children, we hope they will experience, learn, and grow in their understanding of God. We use the vehicles of live worship, Bible stories, creative activities, games, and building friendships as a pathway to seeing children connect in meaningful relationship with Christ.

Our goal is to see each child valued and each family equipped to raise up their child(ren) in the life of faith. We exist to see this vision realized, and every parent, volunteer, and staff member plays a vital role in making this happen.

Please explore the information below to find out more about our children’s ministry, and feel free to contact us if you have any questions, suggestions, or would like to volunteer! Our Children’s Ministry Coordinator is Amanda Svejda and you can contact her by sending an email.

Welcome to Kid City!

What to Expect on Sunday

  • 9:50 am: Check in children for service at Kid City Check-In Station located in the lobby.
  • 10:00 am: Children join parents in the sanctuary for the worship portion of the service.
  • Immediately following worship, Kid City leaders will direct children from the sanctuary to our children’s ministry spaces to gather in their age-specific groups for a time of learning, creating, experiencing and growing.
  • Immediately following the end of service, parents gather at the station in the lobby where a Kid City leader will assist you in picking up your child(ren).

Kid City Groups

Infants/Toddlers (Up to Age 3)

Infants and toddlers are cared for by trained adults who love children. We want even the youngest child to experience the love of Christ in a safe, nurturing, and fun environment.

3 to 7 Years Old

Kids in this age group are engaged in worship songs, interactive Bible lessons, creative activities, and games to introduce them to the relevance of knowing and loving Christ. Our volunteers model positive relationships with the children and encourage them to ask questions about God.

7 to 12 Years Old

In this age group, children meet with a teacher to dig deeper into God’s Word together. Interactive Bible lessons, creative activities, and conversations that allow children to explore who God is and understand Christ’s love characterize this group.

Important details for parents regarding check-in and pick-up at Kid City.

Check-In Station and Procedure

See the bright sign displaying the Kid City logo, friendly leaders wearing photo badges, and a table set up with a laptop in the lobby? That’s where you check in your children before the beginning of each Sunday Service at Logan Square.

How it Works:

Parents bring children to the station, where they are electronically checked-in for the day. Our software assigns an ID Tag number to each child and prints two labels – one is to be placed on the child’s clothing as a nametag, and the other is for the parent to use to pick up the child following the service.

The ID Tag number is also used as a contact point during the service. The child’s ID Tag number will be projected on the screen in the worship service in case any situation arises in which Kid City leaders need to connect with a parent.

Safety/Security

Your child’s safety is our utmost priority. Kid City only allows adults who have been adequately screened to serve in the children’s ministry. All team members who have direct contact with children have undergone a background check and have a photo badge identifying them as Kid City leaders.

Parent Access During Kid City

In order to keep children safe, we only allow screened members of the Kid City team to enter our ministry spaces. Exceptions are made for parents of infants, toddlers and/or young children who at times may need a parent to enter. Please connect with the Kid City team before entering the ministry space.

Pick-Up Procedure

Directly following adult worship, please return promptly to Kid City to pick up your child(ren). Bring the ID Tag label you received at check-in and be prepared to wait outside of the door in the lobby so that the Kid City Team can bring your child to you at the entry door.
