Homeless Outreach Ministry

Mission of the Ministry:

The Homeless Outreach Ministry works closely with the New Community Warming Center to meet the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of homeless individuals within our community. Through our outreaches, we seek to meet the homeless where they are, to provide food and fellowship, and to ultimately develop long-term relationships for the glory of God.

How can I get involved?

  • Email Laura to be added to the homeless outreach ministry e-mail list to be sent
    updates about upcoming events and opportunities.
  • Volunteer at the monthly Friday Night Outreach (FNO) every 3rd Friday of the
    month, 8pm-11pm (except December). This outreach involves visiting various
    places in the Logan Square area to share seasonally appropriate items with
    homeless persons.
  • Participate in the Loop Lunch Outreach, where you and 2-3 people invite
    homeless men or women to lunch (or dinner) in the Loop. This outreach takes
    place about every 2-3 weeks.
  • ‘Bags of Love’ are sold after church once a month next to the Connection Corner.
    The bags are filled with stuff like socks, sanitizer, soap, Gatorade, and lots more.
  • Bring $5 and be proactive about helping the homeless in our city. Also, each
    month we need a community group or group of friends to donate the bags to sell
    that month. It is approximately $100 for 20 bags. All proceeds from the Sunday
    sale go toward the outreach ministry.
  • There will be a Homeless Ministry Annual Christmas Party in December open
    to all homeless and marginalized individuals. With over 50 people typically
    in attendance, your donations of time, food, and gifts are much needed and
    appreciated.
  • Donate new or used men’s clothes which can be brought to the Connection
    Corner table on Sunday mornings or dropped off at the Warming Center during
    open hours (Tues – Fri, 10am-3pm).
  • Be a resource by praying for, getting to know, befriending, and learning about
    support systems for homeless people.
